Part 2 of Clone Check: Which Budget Perfume Copies Which Niche?

Every week on r/fragranceclones, r/ScentHeads, and r/DesiFragranceAddicts, someone asks the same question: which cheap perfume actually copies the expensive one? So instead of guessing, we pulled the last two weeks of real discussion — 418 comments across five subreddits — and counted what the community actually confirmed. "Clone" came up 27 times, "dupe" 9, "dna" 13. The single most-discussed thread was a 147-comment Creed Aventus shootout. Here is what the data shows.

How We Read the Data

Five subreddits, two weeks, 418 comments: r/fragranceclones (147), r/ScentHeads (127), r/DesiFragranceAddicts (91), r/PerfumeIndia (41), r/DubaiPerfumeAddicts (19).

We counted how many times each perfume or original was mentioned, then mapped the clone relationships the community confirmed — not what brands claim, not what influencers are paid to say.

The Clone Map

Creed Aventus is the most-cloned fragrance in the dataset by a wide margin. Club de Nuit Intense Man (Armaf), Afnan Supremacy, and the Montagne Pineapple line are the names that keep coming up as the closest budget matches — 147 comments in a single thread, no ambiguity about what the community thinks.

Dior Sauvage / Sauvage Elixir is second. Sauvage showed 14 total mentions across subs; Lattafa Asad follows at 12 as the Elixir-adjacent pick with the tightest DNA match.

Rasasi Hawas appears at 10 mentions — not as a clone of any specific designer, but as the benchmark for the Indian fresh category. The community is now tracking its flankers (Nautilus, Sapphire) live as they break on creator channels.

Lattafa Asad — The Sauvage Elixir on a Budget

Family: Aromatic Fougère · Inspired by: Dior Sauvage Elixir

Asad picks up Elixir's dense vanilla-birch DNA at a fraction of the price. It is not a perfect copy — the sillage is softer and the dry-down is less refined — but for Indian buyers who want that specific dark, spicy-sweet character without the ₹15,000+ price tag, nothing in this range comes closer.

Community says: "Asad is as close as it gets." "Less sharp than Elixir but it actually lasts on my skin."

Best for: buyers who want Elixir's personality without the price. Skip if: you already own Sauvage EDT and want something genuinely different, not just denser.

Armaf CDNIM Overdose — The New CDN, Overdosed

Family: Woody Spicy · Status: Confirmed new launch, July 1, London

CDNIM is already known for projection. The Overdose version pushes that further — louder opening, more pronounced smoky-birch DNA, harder dry-down. It launched mid-cycle so the community mention count (5) understates where it is heading; perfumegyaan, 1PerfumePassion, and ThePerfumeExperience have all run comparison videos within the first week.

Community says: "Overdose hits harder in the opening." "The John Abraham edition is ₹400 cheaper — same juice."

Best for: CDN fans who found the original too polite and want maximum projection from the Aventus family. Skip if: you already find CDNIM's opening sharp enough.

Rasasi Hawas + Nautilus + Sapphire — The ME Summer King, Now a Trio

Family: Fruity Fresh · New flankers: Hawas Nautilus · Hawas Sapphire (FB Fragrances collab)

The original Hawas has been India's default summer freshie for years. What is new in July 2026 is the flanker wave — two new bottles breaking simultaneously on creator channels. Gents Scents called it "insane." Availability in India is still rolling out, but the YouTube signal is strong enough that these are worth tracking now.

For buyers new to the line: the original Hawas remains the safest blind buy in the fresh category under ₹3,000. For Hawas fans who already own the original: the flankers are the logical next step — different enough to justify the purchase, similar enough to feel familiar.

Best for: year-round Indian wear, mass-appeal daily fresh. Skip if: you want something niche and unseen — Hawas is everywhere.
